Each country in Asia represents a unique opportunity which requires unique strategy and unique implementation. Japan's market is many times larger for most IT related products than the next closest country. Japan is also much more mature and often has local competitive products, whereas other countries may be less mature, but also represent a clean slate, with less local competition. A regional management structure may be called for once in-country operations are successful, but rarely will a regional structure have the strategic vision and resources to not only establish fast-start entities in each country, but also to provide the market feedback that is critical to the success of fast-evolving technology products and services.
